Director - Engineering/Facility
Location: Lakeland, FL
Responsible for providing leadership, direction and resources to assigned areas and or cost centers. Oversees the
functioning of building systems including, mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, elevators, and materials handling systems.
Provides management of human, financial and material resources. Implements best business practices related to the management
of the department. Areas of responsibility include Physical Plant Operations, Maintenance and general sustaining services,
building infrastructure, regulatory compliance, landscaping services, construction management support and Emergency Preparedness.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Oversees contractors for facility renovation projects
entailing HVAC, electrical systems, and plumbing infrastructure. Leads and directs the work of others. As an assigned task
periodically assesses compliance with the Life Safety Code, coordinates completion of the electronic Statement of Conditions
(E-SOC), and manages the resolution of identified deficiencies.
for management and completion of the Joint Commission's Statement of Conditions and Plans for Improvement including maintaining
the Joint Commission extranet web based data holding system.
- Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and
procedures within the field of Facilities systems, building construction and building maintenance.
- Has extensive
background in management fundamentals, finance, and supports the annual budgeting process for both expense and capital outlays
for the cost centers assigned.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with a wide
degree of creativity and latitude.
- Leads the Environment of Care Committee, and supports the concept of continued
readiness for Joint Commission, AHCA, and other regulatory agency inspections.
- Acts as the site contact for air and
water quality permitting and reporting, assuring timeliness of documented testing and submittals to the appropriate agencies.
Leverages talent and commitment of others using a situational awareness model in achieving high performance levels
Provides leadership input regarding the current state of the facilities, makes recommendations for change, and provides supporting
data using an SBAR model.
- Partners with Safety and Security and Clinical Departments as well as County and Township
teams to lead Emergency Management efforts across the health system.
- Responds to emergent and practice drills, supporting
the National (HEICS) Hospital Emergency Incident Command system as outlined in the (CEMP)
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 to 7 years in a director level
Engineering/Facilities/Plant Operations role in healthcare industry. Experience in a company with multiple geographic locations.
Valid Driver's License
- Licenses Preferred: State General Contractors License.
- Certifications Preferred:
CHFM Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager Certifications; PMBOK Project Management.
- Experience Preferred: Large
scale project management in both plant infrastructure and building construction / renovation. Successful history of meeting
Joint Commission accreditation in regards to the Environment of care, and specifically in the areas of Utilities Management,
and Fire and Life safety, including hospital and ambulatory settings. Experience or training in Lean Production methodology.
Experience in leading and developing system-wide Emergency Management and Response programs.
